KEY POINTS

  • New information about "Cyberpunk 2077" surfaced online
  • The leak revealed some details about its Multiplayer mode
  • The game might introduce two Multiplayer modes soon

Polish developer CD Projekt Red is currently busy with "Cyberpunk 2077" and it seems that its Multiplayer is still a long way to go. But if the latest leaks are to go by, fans may just have some of the first details of the upcoming mode.

A recent report from DSOGaming shared that an anonymous data miner was able to uncover several Multiplayer files buried in the executable files of "Cyberpunk 2077." According to the site, these files indicate that the game will get a couple of multiplayer modes, namely a basic Deathmatch and Heists.

Heists seem to provide an experience similar to the single-player quest. Codes referring to the particular Multiplayer mode of the game hint that players could play as different character classes, including Netrunner, Techie and Assassin, to name a few. Data miners reportedly uncovered that the Heists feature has some dedicated functions and editor helper descriptions such as "Set Heist State," "Set spawn point tag that will be used to spawn new players during the mission" and "Spawn tag: %s."

Meanwhile, the second Multiplayer mode of the game has no name yet but it reportedly functions like the standard deathmatch mode. Data miners discovered a deathmatch scorecard and deathmatch-specific functions, including "++ %s joined the match," ">> %s killed %s, %s’s shot destroyed your body and soul," "AllowJoinInProgressDM" and more.

The publication mentioned that the Multiplayer mode of the game might not have dedicated servers and instead depend on Peer To Peer connections with some host authorities. However, there is a great chance that devs would still make several changes before launching the final mode to the public.

Although these details are exciting, players should still manage their expectations since there is no guarantee that these uncovered elements would be available in the game's live Multiplayer build. CD Projekt Red earlier hinted that Multiplayer could be a standalone experience similar to that of "GTA Online," somehow backing up the data mined files about Heists. At the same time, fans should not expect the multiplayer mode of the game to arrive early, considering that CD Projekt Red is currently busy facing various issues, swatting bugs in the game and preparing for the release of its first major DLC.

"Cyberpunk 2077" is playable on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
