U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison went into epic meltdown mode on "The Sean Hannity Show" Tuesday evening in a self-described "rant" against the host and his opinions on the ongoing debate over the sequester.

The Minnesota Democrat was asked onto Hannity's show to answer some questions about the debate over the so-called "sequester" that has gripped Washington, D.C., for the past couple of weeks.

Instead of having a civil debate with the Fox News host, he spent most of his short time on the program lambasting and Hannity and criticizing his lead-in video montage that compared statements made by President Barack Obama about the sequester on Feb. 19 to similar ones he made Tuesday.

"Quite frankly, you are the worst excuse for a journalist I've ever seen," he told Hannity shortly after the introductory video concluded. "What you just displayed was not journalism. It was yellow journalism. It wasn't anything close to try to tell [sic] the American people what's really going on."

He then went off to defend the Obama administration's positions on the sequester, talking over Hannity to get his point across.

"Everything the president said was absolutely true, and for you to make the American people think that it isn't is deceptive on your part, and it's a breach of everything -- every journalistic ethic I have ever heard of was just violated by you."

He went on to call Hannity, who repeatedly reminded the politician that he is a registered Conservative, "nothing but a Republican," adding "you are a shill for the Republican party, and you alibi them constantly; you alibi them 100 percent of the time."

Hannity was pretty cordial considering the caustic nature of Ellison's jeremiad, but when he tried multiple times to stop the congressman to ask him a question, Ellison refused to stop talking to allow time for him to do so.

"Hold on, you said I could rant, and I did," Ellison said, repeatedly refusing to even hear out a question from Hannity, who eventually dismissed him from his show for his intransigence.

"Congressman, you are a total waste of time. I'm moving on because our audience deserves better," Hannity said as he ended the interview. "Thank you for being with us; I tried to give you a fair shot."
