Designated Survivor

Although President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) gained one important person on his team, he lost a valuable staff member in last week’s “Designated Survivor.”

Former President Cornelius Moss (Geoff Pierson) decided to come out of retirement and become the Secretary of State after Kirkman offered the position to him. Unfortunately, his Chief of Staff, Aaron Shore (Adan Canto), decided to resign after being interrogated by the FBI for possibly being involved in the Capitol bombing conspiracy. He chose to quit rather than create a scandal by staying on Kirkman’s team.

Now that the President knows he isn’t involved in the conspiracy, what will be his next move? What future lies ahead for a former White House Chief of Staff? Canto revealed to TVGuide that his character won’t stay on the sidelines for long. “He has to re-evaluate his entire life,” he said. “His next move is evaluating each side, evaluating the current administration, figuring out as much as he can from where he stands.”

Shore will get an interesting new opportunity and this opportunity puts him in direct opposition to Kirkman. The promo of the upcoming “Designated Survivor” episode reveals what this opportunity is: Working for Madam Speaker and Congresswoman Kimble Hookstraten (Virginia Madsen). Kimble may want what is best for her country, but she is Tom’s rival. After all, she does want his job.

The question is whether Aaron will take this job offer. Previous episodes of Season 1 clearly show him being loyal and in awe of President Tom Kirkman. However, he is a man without a job and Kimble’s offer allows him to be a part of the White House.

Aside from Aaron’s job offer, Season 1, episode 15 will see Sutherland’s character reset his presidency and begin his first hundred days as the country’s Commander-in-Chief. Meanwhile, Hannah (Maggie Q) gets closer to finding the truth but it leads her to a dangerous trap.

“Designated Survivor” airs Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
