KEY POINTS

  • The Gjallarhorn can be obtained via an exotic quest from Xur at the Treasure Hoard
  • The weapon requires full completion of the Grasp of Avarice dungeon
  • Gjallarhorn's catalyst can be obtained by completing Grasp of Avarice

Months after its reveal, the Gjallarhorn exotic rocket launcher is now finally back in “Destiny” with much of the same amazing perks that made the weapon the best boss killer all those years ago.

Unlike some of “Destiny 2’s” other exotics, Gjallarhorn can be obtained relatively easily through a dedicated quest line. Players will be able to get their hands on this beast once more after completing the quest’s simple steps, but expect to sink in a bit of time before the Gjallarhorn can be reforged.

Here’s a brief summary of the And Out Fly The Wolves quest in “Destiny 2.”

Starting The Quest

Right after booting up the game, Xur will immediately match players with five other Guardians to complete a round of the new Dares of Eternity activity. Finish this run, then talk to Xur in the new Xur’s Treasure Hoard location in Eternity.

Browse through Xur’s offerings, and grab the Gjallarhorn quest to officially start the hunt for the weapon.

And Out Fly The Wolves

As mentioned earlier, this quest is simple, but it may take some time to complete. Here are all of the quest steps players need to finish:

  • Meet Shaw Han at the Cosmodrome
  • Complete the Grasp of Avarice dungeon
  • Gather Wolfpack Rounds
  • Clear the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector
  • Craft the Gjallarhorn

The Grasp of Avarice dungeon is the longest of all the quest steps. Players may find this dungeon difficult since it's new, but any experienced fireteam that has cleared the Prophecy dungeon at least once should have no problem figuring out Grasp of Avarice’s mechanics.

Once the dungeon is completed, hunt down yellow-bar Fallen enemies to get Wolfpack Rounds. Players will need seven of these, so try to farm areas with plenty of Fallen in them.

After gathering all of the Wolfpack Rounds, speak with Shaw then Banshee before going to the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector in the Cosmodrome. This can be completed very easily as it’s just a normal Lost Sector.

Finally, after gathering the materials, head back to Shaw and follow the quest marker to reforge the Gjallarhorn.

Despite the dominant Particle Deconstruction meta, Gjallarhorn still pulls its weight when it comes to boss-killing. Getting the weapon’s catalyst is highly recommended in order to get a significant DPS boost thanks to the catalyst’s improved reload speed and damage buff.
