UPDATE: 3:33 p.m. EDT -- After Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of domestic violence, the “Magic Mike XXL” star was granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband until another hearing is held, a Los Angeles Superior Court spokesperson told Variety Friday .

Original story:

Things didn’t look too good when Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp days after his mother died, but sympathy for the “Magic Mike XXL” actress grew after a picture of her bruised face was splattered across the internet.

Outlets like TMZ and Hollywood Life shared the picture, which shows red marks around Heard’s right eye. The side of her face appears to be bruised also.

Heard claimed Depp hit her Saturday when she showed up to court with her lawyer, Samantha Spector, TMZ wrote. The “Alice Through The Looking Glass” star is accused of smashing his iPhone into her face. The photo allegedly was taken shortly after he struck her.

During the reported assault, Depp broke various items in their apartment. When Heard called a friend for help, he apparently grabbed her phone out of her hand, but she was able to yell, “Call the cops!” The friend dialed 911, and authorities were dispatched to their home, the site wrote.

By that time, Depp had left, so police took a report. They told Heard they would arrest the actor if she gave a statement about the violence, but she declined. They urged her to contact them if she changed her mind.

Saturday wasn’t the first time Depp was allegedly violent with the blond beauty, TMZ wrote. There were multiple times Depp put his hands on her during their 15-month marriage.

In the document she filed Friday, Heard requested a temporary restraining order, claiming there's an immediate threat of harm. But as TMZ noted, the actor has been away since Wednesday because he is promoting “Alice Through The Looking Glass.”

Depp hasn’t responded to the assault allegations, but he did issue a statement about the divorce. "Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” Depp’s rep told People Magazine. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly."
