Dish’s AirTV Player Includes Local OTA Channels And 4K Streaming
Dish is getting ready to introduce a new streaming device at CES this year, the AirTV, which will give cord cutters a new way to watch the hottest shows on TV via its streaming device. Dish Network’s “AirTV Player” will provide local TV channels over-the-air through a digital antenna, which is combined with Sling TV’s streaming service and Netflix.
The AirTV also supports 4K, which is good news for you if you bought a new TV during the holiday season. The 4K support will make it easy to get content from Netflix and YouTube apps, especially since the platform is Android TV.
With the AirTV, Sling TV users now have access to over-the-air broadcast channels, including local channels like ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS, CW and more.
The AirTV Player connects to dual-band Wi-Fi networks and includes a voice-enabled remote. The remote has buttons for Sling TV, Netflix and Google Play Store, and provides voice capabilities and can control the volume on any TV or sound system using infrared.
The AirTV Player and adapter are bundled together in a package for $129.00, which also comes with a $50 credit for Sling TV service. If you decide you want to add an antenna, you can buy the adapt for $39.99. Both devices are on sale today at Dish’s new AirTV website.
In addition, Dish’s Slng TV launched an “Optimized for Sling TV” certification program for devices that provide an “exceptional” experience for OTT service. Those on the certified list include the new AirTV Player and Xiaomi’s Mi Box. Sling TV is available on Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, Microsoft Xbox One and Google Chromecast.
