Now that it's officially spring, does President Donald Trump still need his so-called Winter White House?

The commander-in-chief was not scheduled to travel to Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach resort, on Friday, breaking a recent tradition that has landed Trump in the Sunshine State for five mini-vacations since inauguration, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

"The president intends to be here this weekend," White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters during a Thursday briefing in Washington, D.C. "So as we have updates on the president’s weekend plans, we will let you know, as well."

Trump, who spent much of former President Barack Obama's term criticizing his predecessor's golf games and Hawaiian vacations, has made headlines over the past two months with his frequent sojourns down south. In addition to presenting security concerns, his weekends at Mar-a-Lago have proven costly. Each time the president skips town for Florida, he costs taxpayers an estimated $3 million, according to Politico.

It's also become a headache for local residents, who have complained about the traffic, protests and noise that accompany Trump visits.

"I’m not sure that anyone understood that when the president referred to Mar-a-Lago as the ‘southern White House,’ he really intended to visit almost every week," Rep. Theodore E. Deutch, D-Fla., told the Washington Post recently. "There are a lot of people who come to Palm Beach County over the entire winter to enjoy the weather and enjoy the golfing. When the president chooses to do the same thing, it raises a whole host of other issues."

With ongoing debates about his campaign officials' links to Russia, Republicans' health care bill and construction on the Keystone Pipeline, Trump was sure to have a busy weekend. But one thing he won't be doing is showing up at the Palm Beach County GOP's Lincoln Day dinner, a massive fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago the president has previously attended.

That said, there will be a few famous faces at the event, including Gov. Rick Scott and pro-Trump vloggers Diamond and Silk, according to the Palm Beach Post.
