'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 8 Synopsis, Photos And Promo Video Released
“Downton Abbey” Season 5, episode 8 will leave audiences disappointed that the season is almost over. In the last episode, Rose (Lily James) and Atticus (Matt Barber) got engaged while Bates (Brendan Coyle) and Anna (Joanne Froggatt) decided that they couldn’t worry about the murder investigation anymore. Everything seemed to be looking up for the folks at Downton—so expect everything to take a big twist in the last episode before the Season 5 finale. According to the episode 8 synopsis, everyone will be in trouble.
Rose and Atticus knew they would face opposition because of their conflicting religions. So it isn’t surprising that “someone tries to derail Rose and Atticus’ happiness.” But who will it be? Now that Rose and Atticus are getting married, it’s time to finally introduce him to Rose’s parents. Could they be the ones sabotaging her relationship?
Bates and Anna were planning their future last week, but they might not be able to follow through on those plans. “Anna is in trouble,” is the only hint that the synopsis gives. Does trouble involve Mr. Green? Though Anna and her husband agreed to move past it, Mr. Green’s murder investigation is not over yet. It could still come back to haunt them.
They aren’t the only servants with a big shock. Mrs. Patmore (Lesley Nicol) “gets a surprise,” according to the episode synopsis. Her surprise is likely to be much more pleasant than Anna’s shocking twist.
Meanwhile, Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) “has a revelation,” the description teases. It might pertain to Marigold, who Edith (Laura Carmichael) claims is a friend’s child that they couldn’t care for any longer. Will Robert really believe that his daughter wants to take on someone else’s child? Or does his revelation have to do with the political views that so many people have fought with him about this season?
