  • Sweden-born Elin Nordegren worked several odd jobs before getting a nanny gig that took her to the U.S.
  • She met Tiger Woods through Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik
  • She reportedly received around $100 million from the divorce settlement following her split from Woods

Elin Nordegren is known in American households as Tiger Woods’ ex-wife. However, the former nanny and model is more than just the ex-spouse and mother to the children of the celebrated golfer.

Nordegren hails from Sweden where she took odd jobs to fund her education. It was in one of her part-time jobs where she met Mia Parnevik, wife of Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik. Not long after, the Parneviks hired her as a nanny to their children. She joined the family when they relocated to the U.S.

The golfer was instrumental in Woods meeting Nordegren at the 2001 British Open. However, their relationship did not blossom right away as Nordegren was focused on fulfilling her dream of becoming a child psychologist, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

However, fate arranged for them to be together, and after years of dating, the couple announced their engagement in 2003. They wed in a lavish ceremony in Barbados’ Sandy Lane resort in 2004.

The honeymoon period did not last long for Woods and Nordegren. In 2006, she issued libel proceedings against an Irish magazine for publishing fake nude pictures of her. She won the libel suit against the respondent publication with a settlement of €125,000 ($152,000).

The couple made headlines once more three years later. In November 2009, Woods was injured when he “lost control” of his SUV outside his Florida mansion, ESPN reported. The crash uncovered Woods' many affairs over the course of their five-year marriage, leading to him checking into treatment for sex addiction.

Soon after, Nordegren filed for divorce and received around $100 million from the divorce settlement when they finalized their split in 2010, per TMZ.

They have since set aside their differences. In 2020, Nordegren and Woods decided to co-parent their two children, daughter Sam, 13, and son Charlie, 12, amid the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, People reported.

After her split with the pro golfer, Nordegren decided to live a low profile life, according to Us Weekly. She has since been dating Jordan Cameron, a former NFL player, and in October 2019, they welcomed their first child together.

Valued at $200 million by Celebrity Net Worth, Nordegren now works as a mental health counselor in Florida. The former model earned her degree in psychology from Rollins College in 2014, The Sun reported. She later received her license in 2018. She has also bought herself a house on two acres of land in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Her life and marriage to Woods were featured in the HBO documentary “Tiger” that premiered in January.
