A former teacher from Tomball, Texas, admitted to having a sexual relationship with a former middle school student almost half her age, court documents showed.

According to an affidavit, Marka Bodine, 31, told investigators she had a sexual relationship with a former student and that she sent him several sexually explicit images and videos.

The affidavit showed that investigators were initially contacted after the principal of Bodine's school said the teacher was being harassed by a former student. Bodine allegedly told the principal that the former student was threatening to commit self-harm and had gotten hold of her photographs and manipulated images of her.

Investigators found several messages and images that were exchanged between Bodine and her now-16-year-old former student after searching their phones, the affidavit showed. It also noted that some of the images were sexually explicit.

Bodine, a former Tomball Independent School District teacher, was arrested and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child after police received a complaint from the alleged victim.

The former student told investigators that he met and befriended Bodine in an online video game, according to the affidavit. They later started exchanging explicit images and had sex after the student turned 13.

Bodine and the boy's relationship would continue for three years, the affidavit showed. The boy said Bondine moved into his apartment after she got divorced. He also told investigators that he and Bodine engaged in sexual acts in her classroom and in her car several times.

Bodine was booked into the Harris County Jail following her arrest and was later released on a $100,000 bond.

She was due to appear in court on Monday morning.

A similar incident occurred last week when a former Ohio priest working at a university was accused of raping a former student from 2010 to 2013.

Prosecutors said 59-year-old David Morrier, a former friar of the Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Third Order Regular of St. Francis of Penance, allegedly used his position at the Franciscan University of Steubenville to persuade a student to engage in sexual acts with him with the belief it would help with the mental health issues she was dealing with.
