‘The Exorcist’ Season 3 To Be Renewed Following Consistent Ratings?
Things could be looking good for Fox’s “The Exorcist!”
The series, which surprisingly received a Season 2 renewal, may be picked up by the network for a third season. According to TV Line, the ratings for the series have been consistent ever since it premiered in September.
Most recently, the Alfonso Herrera-starrer garnered a 25 percent increase with its 1.54 million viewers and a 0.5 rating. These figures are not necessarily high, but “The Exorcist” managed to get renewed for a second season with similar numbers.
Prior to May’s renewal, Deadline reported in April that “The Exorcist” Season 2 is as good as confirmed. After all, the series, which was adapted from the 1973 film, was well-received by fans especially during its first few installments. “Despite not getting a back order, there is talk that the well-received new drama ‘Exorcist’ also looks good to come back,” the publication noted.
“The Exorcist” Season 2 currently stars returning actors Herrera, Ben Daniels and Kurt Egyiawan. New cast members were also tapped to join Season 2, which centers on an entirely different story compared to Season 1. John Cho, who plays the role of foster home owner Andy Kim, opened up about his character’s fate.
While speaking with TV Line, Cho said that the second half of the series will explore Andy’s emotions further. “His life will become severely entropic. So, things will not get good for him,” he said.
Cho also dished on Andy’s relationship with Fathers Tomas and Marcus, who he the character is currently working with as an ally. In the upcoming episodes, Andy may see Fathers Tomas and Marcus as his enemies.
“In the next episode, Andy and the exorcists will butt heads. It’s a tremendous scene. I think it was nine pages long, which is a lot in a TV script, and we played it as one scene – like a play. It’s special doing that kind of scene with actors that are world-class actors. It was one of the delights of my life to do that kind of scene with those guys,” he said.
“The Exorcist” Season 2 airs Fridays at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
