Florida Man Confesses On Facebook To Killing Wife, Posts Photo Of Body: Police
A South Miami, Fla., man posted a grisly photo of his dead wife to the social network Facebook after he apparently killed her, police said Thursday.
Derek Medina, 31, posted a photo of his dead wife to a Facebook page attributed to him. Police later discovered the woman's body in their townhouse. According to CBS Miami, Medina's identity was confirmed South Miami Police Sgt. Rene Landa.
Medina turned himself in to authorities Thursday morning, telling them that he shot his wife during a domestic dispute, said Miami-Dade police. A 10-year-old girl was home at the time but was not hurt, according to authorities.
The photo posted to the site shows a woman identified in the post as Jennifer Alfonso, Medina's wife. In the image, her body is bent over backwards at the knees on what appears to be a kitchen floor. Her face is covered in blood, as is her left arm.
The page also includes an alleged confession from Medina, with a post reading:
“I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope you understand me.”
Police have not confirmed that Medina posted the confession and photo on his page. But the confession was posted to Facebook right around the same time as the gruesome photo.
According to records, Medina and Alfonso were married in April 2012, reports the New York Daily News.
