Florida Pastor Arrested For Viewing Child Porn At Disney World
A Florida pastor has been arrested for possession of child pornography and solicitation of minors after openly accessing the material at Disney World. The 49-year-old pastor also works as a custodial manager at Disney World and reportedly attempted to view child pornography on his work computer.
According to WKMG Orlando, Orange County, Fla., resident Cedric Cuthbert was arrested this week after Disney became aware of his attempt to access several blocked child porn websites on his work computer. Cuthbert, who has served as pastor of Historic St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church for three years, has been charged with soliciting minors via the Internet and possessing material depicting sexual performance by a child.
Disney employees reportedly learned that Cuthbert was attempting to access blocked child pornography websites in April and immediately contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Cuthbert has been a Disney employee for more than seven years.
When investigators inspected Cuthbert’s office at Disney World’s Port Orleans resort, they found he had used his work computer to download two porn videos as well as pen two sermons based around the Biblical passages John 13 and Psalm 148. CBS reports that semen was also found in Cuthbert’s office.
In addition to possessing child pornography, Cuthbert allegedly wrote several soliciting messages to underage girls on YouTube. The pastor reportedly found videos posted by young girls and sent them messages such as "you are so cute! Great sexy bodi! Send me a private vid."
In response to Cuthbert’s arrest, Florida AME church leaders have banned Cuthbert from working at any related churches until a formal meeting is held in September.
"We are surprised and extremely disappointed by the alleged illicit behavior of the Reverend Cedric Cuthbert," a statement sent to WKMG Orlando reads. "The Eleventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church apologizes to all families and communities, especially the City of Sanford and the members of St. James AME Church, that have been hurt by Reverend Cuthbert's alleged actions ... Reverend Cuthbert has been relieved of all of his pastoral duties."
According to Central Florida’s 13 News, Cuthbert was released on bond under the condition that he does not contact any minors besides his 8- and 11-year-old sons.
