  • "Forza Horizon 5" could reportedly arrive this year
  • Information about the game's location was leaked online recently
  • The developers of "Forza Horizon 5" have not said anything about its launch

The much-awaited "Forza Horizon 5" may not be set in Japan. A fresh set of leaks suggest the game's location could be Mexico.

The racing series had previously used Colorado, Australia and Great Britain as locations. While Japan seems to be the popular choice among fans, it appears that the game might not be set in the country. Despite earlier rumors suggesting the location of "Forza Horizon 5," a couple of industry insiders now claim that the game will possibly be set in Mexico.

Industry insider Klobrielle mentioned in ResetEra that the game's location will not be in Japan, which lines up with what VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb had said earlier.

The video games journalist echoed the insider's statement on the game's location while replying to a Spanish-speaking follower on Twitter. Grubb previously said "Forza Horizon 5" would be released this year. The theory about the game set in Mexico was further triggered when WindowCentral's Jez Corden and Klobrille talked about Mexico and their need to learn Spanish.

Mexico would still be a wonderful location for the racing series. Klobrille said the variety of locations, the size of the country, as well as its beautiful culture, could make it an ideal option for an open-world racing title.

The insider expressed confidence that the game would be showcased this summer. It will not be surprising to see an announcement about "Forza Horizon 5" this year. The "Forza" franchise used to release a new installment every year but it has not launched a new title since 2018 after the release of "Forza Horizon 4."

Even if "Forza Horizon 5" would be announced this summer, it might not be released within the year. The impact of the current global health crisis makes it difficult for game developers to develop or finish what they are doing.

There is no official statement yet from the developers about the game's release.
