George Clooney Injured As Bike Collides With Car In Sardinia

Update: 5 a.m. EDT — John Paul II hospital confirmed Clooney was discharged following the collision between the bike he was riding and a car. According to reports, the actor was riding his scooter on the State Road 125 towards Olbia when a car hit him and he fell. MRI scan was negative and Clooney did not have any serious injuries. However, he did have pain in the pelvis and bruises on one knee and an arm, a local daily reported.

The accident took place near hotel Ollastu but the staff said they did not see or hear the incident, Claudio Lavanga, NBC reporter tweeted.

Actor George Clooney was injured in an accident after the bike he was riding collided with a car in Mediterranean island of Sardinia on Tuesday. Following the accident, the actor was hospitalized. He was in Sardinia to direct a TV series called "Catch 22."

Local reports claimed Clooney was travelling along a state road in Costa Corallina when the accident occurred. He was taken to emergency room at John Paul II hospital, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Clooney and wife Amal were spotted spending quality time in Porto San Paolo, Sardinia, on Saturday night.

He previously sustained injuries during the shoot of his 2005 hit "Syriana."

“There was this scene where I was taped to a chair and getting beaten up, and we did quite a few takes. The chair was kicked over and I hit my head,” he said about the accident on the sets, adding “I tore my dura, which is the wrap around my spine, which holds in spinal fluid.”

“I was at a point where I thought, ‘I can’t exist like this. I can’t actually live.’ I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches where it feels like you’re having a stroke, and for a short three-week period, I started to think, ‘I may have to do something drastic about this,'” he said. “You start to think in terms of, you don’t want to leave a mess, so go in the garage, go in the car, start the engine. It seems like the nicest way to do it, but I never thought I’d get there. See, I was in a place where I was trying to figure out how to survive,” People reported.

The actor then turned to alcohol to help reduce the pain. He underwent a surgery but still suffers from occasional pains related to the accident.

In 2015, Clooney and his father-in-law Ramzi Alamuddin were involved in a car crash on Park Avenue near the Waldorf Astoria, New York, while returning home after a birthday dinner. The two managed to escape unhurt but the car was dented.

Another car picked them up and took them back to their hotel. Clooney kept his arm around his father–in–law and kept asking if he was alright.
