Gilmore Girls Rory Dean
“Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” star Alexis Bledel said she enjoyed reuniting with Jared Padalecki, who plays Dean. Netflix

Alexis Bledel and Jared Padalecki go way back. They first worked together in 2000, when “Gilmore Girls” started, and they’ll reunite in the revival series on Netflix. The two played love interests through Season 5 on the original dramedy, and Bledel only had kind things to say about filming with the Texas native on the new mini series.

“It was great working with him again,” Bledel told Collider. “He’s always so affable and friendly, and he’s got this great energy.”

Padalecki left “Gilmore Girls” in 2005 to go work on a pilot for a new show called “Supernatural.” Now in Season 12, it seems like he made a pretty good choice. However, the CW drama prevented him from returning for too much of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” Bledel noted that they had limited time together.

“Our scene was so fun to film,” she added.

Padalecki revealed earlier this year that he wasn’t able to be in more than a scene because of his schedule. However, showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino was happy to find a way to fit him in.

“[Sherman-Palladino] basically said, ‘Listen, we’re going to write you a really cool scene, and if you get a day off, let us know: We will just put your scene on the schedule for that day,’” Padalecki explained (via E! Online) in June at Jus in Bello 7, an Italian fan convention. “She was like, ‘It’s a set that we already run and own [and] it’s an actress that already is working every day, so let us know.’”

The 34-year-old, who recently announced that he is expecting his third child with wife Genevieve, also revealed that his scene is in Doose’s Market with Rory. Fans will have to wait for the series to find out what happens when they run into each other.

Dean is just one of Rory’s ex-boyfriends appearing in the “Gilmore Girls” revival. Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) will also pop back into Rory’s life in the Netflix series, which takes place about 10 years after the original series ended.

All four 90-minute episodes of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” hit Netflix Friday, Nov. 25.
