Google Hires 'SoundStage' Developer For Virtual Reality Team

Google is looking to staff up on its virtual reality team. Logan Olson, developer of the VR music creation app SoundStage, will join Google’s VR team according to a report from The Verge. On Twitter, SoundStage also confirmed the news:

Originally launched last summer, SoundStage is a title that allows users to create music with VR-based instruments. Available instruments include drums, synthesizers and samplers. SoundStage also first launched on the HTC Vive and eventually was released for the Oculus Rift. With Olson heading to Google, he also confirmed in a Steam post he plans to halt active development of new features for SoundStage , but will still support the app with bug fixes as needed for the immediate future. Olson is expected to work to bolster the search company’s existing VR properties at Google, but at the moment, the company is maintaining a relatively low profile with its Daydream VR mobile headset. However, Google has made similar moves for creative and unconventional VR titles before. One of the company’s more popular titles is Tilt Brush, which lets users paint and create drawing in a three-dimensional environment.
