Shonda Rhimes is going to flip the script when “Grey’s Anatomy” returns in the fall with its Season 13 premiere.

Recently, ABC released a poster for the upcoming installment — a promo photo that teases some head-turning changes for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) … literally. In the photo, fans of the medical drama can see that the beloved Grey Sloan surgeon has been split down the middle.

Half of Meredith stares at audiences while the other part of the scrub-sporting beauty has been replaced by the Seattle skyline. Could the image be alluding to a potential conflict? Or does the promo photo imply Meredith will be torn between herself and her beloved city in the upcoming season of “Grey’s Anatomy”? Either way it’s safe to say there will be some sort of drama come Season 13.

When fans last saw Meredith in the Season 12 finale, they were given a peek at what issues would arise in the forthcoming installment. During Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) wedding, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) told the blushing bridesmaid that she had feelings for a surgeon — the very same doctor that Meredith also had a connection with!

“I think he likes me,” Maggie admitted to Meredith the feelings she had for Riggs (Martin Henderson), causing Meredith’s smile to disappear. Meredith had recently started locking lips with the New Zealand newcomer and was beginning to take her relationship with the hot doc to a new, emotional level. But with Maggie’s recent admission, we have a feeling that may cause some conflict for Meredith and Riggs’ blooming romance.

“Grey’s Anatomy” will return with its Season 13 premiere on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
