How Much Does Meghan Markle’s Three-Diamond Engagement Ring From Prince Harry Cost?

Meghan Markle’s engagement ring was personally designed by her fiancé, Prince Harry, and it’s quite expensive.

According to experts, the piece of jewelry that features three diamonds could cost up to $200,000 depending on its quality. Michael Fried, the CEO of Diamond Pro, shared with People Magazine his estimate.

“A three-carat diamond like that should cost around $200,000, through the diamond qualities of us non-royal folk usually go with would allow us to get a similar sized diamond for about $80,000,” he told People.

But since Markle’s engagement ring features the late Princess Diana’s diamonds, this makes the jewelry “priceless.”

“There is no way for anyone to put a value on the whole ring. Having diamonds from the royal collection that Princess Diana wore makes the ring priceless,” he said.

Kathryn Money, vice president of strategy and merchandising at Brilliant Earth, believes that the ring has 6.5 carats in total. The center diamond alone is estimated at 5 carats. “This ring is truly priceless with unmatched cultural significance,” she said.

Amanda Winters from Blue Nile had a more conservative estimate for Markle’s ring. She thinks that it costs roughly around $35,000 to $40,000, according to MONEY.

Fans of the royal family can get their own lookalike version of Markle’s sparkler. QVC has for sale a seeming replica of the ring for approximately $26 USD, as first reported by Metro UK.

Meanwhile, Markle’s “priceless” engagement ring is set on a yellow gold band that is reflective of the actress’ taste. Even Prince Harry acknowledged this during an interview with BBC on Monday.

“This ring is obviously yellow gold because it’s her favorite and the main stone itself is sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds on either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” he said.

Prince Harry’s older brother, Prince William, also did a similar thing when he proposed to Kate Middleton a couple of years ago. The Duke of Cambridge gave Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, an 18-carat sapphire diamond ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.

Markle and Prince Harry got engaged earlier this month, but they officially made an announcement on Monday.

“It was my way to make sure my mother did not miss out on today and the excitement that we are going to spend the rest of our lives together,” he told TIME.
