At a time when the threat of an imminent iOS 6.1.3 firmware update is looming over the iOS jailbreak scene that could potentially kill the evasi0n untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and above, the team evad3rs has released a couple of updates to the tool.

On Monday, evasi0n received an update that took it to the version 1.5.3 from 1.5.2. The evasi0n v1.5.3 comes with a fix for the bug that occurs during the jailbreak process leading Windows to crash.

The v1.5.3 update was preceded by another update to the untethered jailbreak tool, taking the version to 1.5.2. It was a minor update related to language localizations. As iDownloadBlog noted, with the 1.5.2 software update, “support has been added to include localizations for the native languages of the Evad3rs: French, German, and Chinese.”

If your device is already jailbroken with evasi0n, you can avoid both the updates. But in case you are yet to jailbreak your device, you can download the latest version of evasi0n and have your iOS device jailbroken untethered.

How To Use Evasi0n To Jailbreak

Step 1: After downloading the latest version of evasi0n, save it in a folder on the desktop. Then right click on the .exe file and select “Run as administrator.” Click on “Yes” if a User Access Control window appears.

Mac users should double click on the evasi0n app to run it.

Step 2: Use the USB cable to connect the device to the computer.

Step 3: evasi0n will detect the device and confirm the iOS version it’s currently running on. Now click on the Jailbreak button.

Step 4: After a few automatic steps, a screen will pop up prompting you to unlock the device. Once you unlock the device, a new app icon named “Jailbreak” will appear on the Home screen.

Step 5: Tap on the “Jailbreak” icon only once. The screen will now go black for a moment and return to the Home screen instantly.

Step 6: After that a number of automated messages will follow, during which the device will reboot multiple times. Once it’s done, another message will appear saying, “Jailbreak complete! The device may restart a few times as it completes the process”.

Step 7: After the device reboots again, you are done. You will be on your Lock screen. The jailbreak process is now complete. Swipe over to the second Home screen to find the Cydia icon.

Step 8: Once you launch Cydia, give it a couple of minutes to initialize. Once the initialization is complete, the device will re-spring again. Open Cydia again, select Hacker.

In case the process gets stuck somewhere, you can restart the program, reboot the device (by holding down Power and Home button until it shuts down) and rerun the process.
