KEY POINTS

  • Apple is reportedly planning to launch an entry-level iPhone in March
  • The iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 would reportedly retail at $399
  • The new report aligns with earlier reports and claims from other sites and also from analysts

The imminent threat of the novel coronavirus (nCov) appears to have a little impact on the supply chain of the Cupertino company Apple, at least for now. Based on earlier rumors, it seems that Apple is preparing to launch its entry-level iPhone in the first quarter of this year. Apart from the recent report of a pre-order sighting in South Korea, a new report confirms the retail price of the heavily rumored and much anticipated iPhone SE 2.

iPhone SE 2 Retail Price

As early as last year, TFI Securities Analyst and Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple would release a more affordable iPhone in the first quarter of 2020. The analyst even said that the upcoming model might retail for only $399. A new report claims that the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9 would retail at $399.

Fast Company’s recent report aligns with earlier reports about the price of the entry-level iPhone. If this pricing is accurate, the upcoming low-cost iPhone will release with the same retail price as the iPhone SE, which Apple released almost four years ago. The Cupertino company is now reaping the fruits of its pricing strategy since it introduced the iPhone X, and it looks like it is doing the same thing this year.

iPhone9 Up For Pre-order

A surprising report from an unlikely source recently revealed that the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 is now up for pre-order, at least in South Korea. Chinese tech site cnBeta recently shared a couple of photos taken from one of the brick and mortar stores of Korea Telecom in South Korea. The images show that the store is now advertising that the iPhone 9 is now available for pre-order.

The photos are the very first physical evidence of a store advertising the iPhone 9. While many raised their eyebrows on the poster, it is hard to discount its veracity considering that Korea Telecom is one of the major carriers in the country. The poster even offers free Apple AirPods for those who pre-order the iPhone 9.

So far, it appears that the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9 would retail at $399. The entry-level iPhone might arrive in the third quarter of this year.
