Jennifer Grey, who was once engaged to Johnny Depp, admits she barely recognizes him in his ongoing defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

On Tuesday, the "Dirty Dancing" star made a virtual appearance on "The Tamron Hall Show" to promote her new memoir, "Out of the Corner."

During her appearance, Grey was asked about being engaged to her "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" co-star Matthew Broderick and Depp within the same month in 1988, and Tamron Hall showed the audience a throwback photo of the actress and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star when they were still together.

The 62-year-old actress said she struggled to recognize the Depp she was engaged to and the Depp she's seen in court footage from his defamation trial, which has been streaming live on both Court TV and Law & Crime since April 12.

"I will say that I haven't watched any of it. I don't even know how to. I don't even know how to get Court TV. I don't even know where it would be," she was quoted as saying by Entertainment Weekly of the trial.

She continued, "But from clips or things that I've come across, I don't recognize the person. It's nothing to do with anything that I've ever experienced, and it makes me sad. I don't understand what's going on, and I just want everyone to be OK."

Grey was set up on a blind date with Depp after she and Broderick split in 1988. The pair dated for a year and got engaged before calling it quits.

She discussed their past relationship in her memoir, which hit shelves on May 3.

"There was some heat. It was a f---ing bonfire," she wrote in an excerpt obtained by People. "It was literally like, 'Are you f---ing kidding me? Are you f---ing kidding me?' I've never seen a guy like this. And energetically, what it was like being with him, it was like, 'Oh, I'm being totally, totally compensated for the s--t I just went through.'"

During an interview with Extra earlier this month, Grey said she hasn't spoken to Depp in 30 years but described him as "funny and sweet and just so charming and quirky and weird and self-effacing and just so unique and gorgeous, and he was obsessed with me and romantic" when they were together.

When asked if she was surprised by what she’s heard or seen about Depp recently, the actress said, "I haven't known him for 30 years. I haven't talked to him. I haven't seen him… The whole thing makes me insanely sad for everybody involved. These are people who are damaged and continuing to damage each other. It's sad. I don’t have an opinion, except it breaks my heart… I just knew him in a very different time."

However, in her book, she also accused Depp of being "crazy jealous" and "paranoid" throughout their one-year relationship, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Depp is suing Heard for $50 million, alleging that she defamed him in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she wrote about surviving domestic violence. While the article didn't mention him by name, the actor argued that it destroyed his reputation and cost him movie projects.

The Virginia trial is on a break until Monday. Closing arguments are scheduled for May 27.
