The cast of Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s “Jurassic World” sequel just got bigger.

Daniella Pineda, who is best known for starring in TBS comedy series “The Detour” as Vanessa, has joined the cast of “Jurassic World 2” in a significant role, Variety reports. Details of her character are kept under wraps, but what is known is that she has been cast in one of the new female lead roles.

The 29-year-old actress is has played roles in various TV shows such as “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals,” “American Odyssey” and “Homeland.” She also appeared in films such as “Newlyweds” and “Sleeping With Other People.” Pineda was raised in California and now lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Pineda thanked fans on Twitter after news broke of her casting. However, she did emphasize that she is nervous to play the part.

Pineda isn’t the only new cast member to join “Jurassic Park 5.” “Sherlock” actor Toby Jones, “Life Of Pi” star Rafe Spall and “The Get Down” actor Justice Smith have all been cast in the sequel. The new cast will join returning stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Plot details are not known at this point. However, “Jurassic World 2” will be directed by J.A. Bayona. Frank Marshall, Pat Crowley and Belén Atienza are producing the movie and the “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow has penned the script with Derek Connolly.

“Jurassic World” starred Pratt as behavioral researcher Owen Grady and Howard as Claire Dearing, the park’s operation manager. After the dinosaurs managed to escape their designated areas and fences, Owen and Claire try to stop a new hybrid dinosaur named Indominus Rex from wreaking havoc. In the end, Owen established himself as the new alpha of the Raptors’ pack and used them, Mosasaurus and T-Rex to kill the Indominus Rex.

“Jurassic World 2” is scheduled to hit theatres on June 22, 2018.
