Although some may have feared Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s exit would damage the royal family, the couple’s absence has reportedly brought Kate Middleton and Prince William closer together.

Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their plan to “step back” from their senior roles in the royal family. However, their newfound freedom has left Kate and William responsible for picking up the slack.

Despite the additional duties, insiders told Us Weekly that the extra work has only solidified the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s marriage. “The Cambridges are busier than ever since Harry and Meghan left the UK,” the source revealed.

“You’d think their hectic schedule would put a strain on the marriage, but it’s actually brought them closer together,” the tipster added.

During Prince William and Kate’s recent trip to Swansea Bay, the couple was noticeably more affectionate with one another compared to past royal visits. Body language expert Judi James told FEMAIL that Meghan and Harry are responsible for the couple’s recent PDA.

“These are very interesting mutual touch rituals from William and Kate, with a suggestion that they might have made a conscious decision to relax what has in the past looked like their ‘hands-off’ policy in public, she explained.

“Although we have seen them being tentatively tactile before, these rituals hint that they might be happy to be seen as a little more demonstrative, now that the hugely tactile Harry and Meghan have left to live in North America,” James added.

The expert claimed the couple’s new state of happiness has caused them to break their usual traditions. “These latest rituals show the royal couple looking mutually supportive via small arm and back touches though, rather than flagging up their love via hand-holding and hugs.”

Fans will be able to see whether Kate and Prince William will continue to display their admiration for one another when they come face-to-face with Meghan and Prince Harry in a few weeks. Queen Elizabeth has reportedly requested that the Sussexes return to the UK to join the royal family for Commonwealth Day in March.
