Kim Kardashian stunned at the 2015 Met Gala, sporting an awe-inspiring original look from Roberto Cavalli. This year’s gown cast aside all memory of her disastrous floral Givenchy look from two years ago, putting her back on just about every best dressed list imaginable.

The 33-year-old hit the carpet in a sheer Roberto Cavalli gown covered in lace, jewels, and delicate white feathers. At first glance the gown did not fit with the theme of the night -- "China: Through the Looking Glass" -- but upon further inspection it's clear to see it was all in the details. The delicate lace and jewel accents, which were ever-so-carefully placed over her more private areas, paid homage to the country country in both their shape and pattern.

Kardashian kept the accessories limited, sporting only a pair of large drop-down diamond earrings, her 15-carat wedding ring and a muted nude nail polish. She strutted down the red carpet with her handsome husband Kanye West by her side, wearing a well-tailored suede suit paired with a matching suede scarf and simple black shoes.

The gorgeous gown is the first designed by Peter Dundas as head honcho at the famous fashion house, according to tweets from the reality TV star. The mother-of-one shared with fans on Fridat that she had just come from a lengthy fitting for the curve-hugging gown, teasing that this was “one of my favorite dresses ever!!!!!!!”

According to a post on Kardashian’s Instagram, the dress was inspired by a look worn by pop-music icon Cher. The 68-year-old, who was present at this year’s gala, wore a strikingly similar gown, designed by Bob Mackie, to the first Met Gala ever in 1974. Kardashian was sure to catch up with Cher to discuss the look as well as their “amazing Armenian journeys” during the event. Although social media usage was said to be banned inside the event, the two took some time to break the rules and snap a photo together.

While a majority of the chatter about the “Keeping up with The Kardashians” star’s gown was positive, many couldn’t help but notice that Cher wasn’t her only source of inspiration. Almost immediately after Kardashian and her hubby arrived on the scene, the Internet was abuzz with claims that she’d copied Beyonce’s look from the 2012 Met Gala.

The “Flawless” singer rocked a sheer black gown with similar lace accents and a black and purple feathered bottom to the event, which was themed "Schiaparelli And Prada: Impossible Conversations." The gown was designed by Givenchy, a favorite French fashion house of both Kardashian and her man. Neither have commented on the copying claims at this time, but you know what they say - imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
