  • "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" was announced in 2019
  • It is anticipated to pick up where the original "Zelda" game left off
  • Rumors about the sequel have been rife since 2019

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" is reportedly nearing its completion but fans may have to wait much longer before they could get their hands on the Nintendo-exclusive sequel.

The latest information about "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" has come from industry insider Zippo, who said the game is "nearing completion." Unfortunately, the insider has claimed that "a release by the end of the year just isn't seeming feasible."

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" was greatly affected by the pandemic and because of that, the team reportedly needs more time. The insider said the game could release sometime in the Spring of 2022. They also anticipate that Nintendo would showcase the game or make an announcement about it at the E3 2021 gaming convention in June.

"What I foresee Nintendo doing at E3 is finally busting down the doors on the game and giving fans and the press tons of details on it, with a 'Spring 2022' date attached to it," the insider said in a blogpost. No other details about "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" were provided.

Aside from "BOTW 2," Zippo also shared some details about this year's Zelda 35th anniversary.

"This is a tricky one. Going by other reliable sources, there's a Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD bundle coming, which is obviously happening, but other than that, uh. Beats me. There's been talk of an Ocarina/Majora bundle as well, but I haven't personally heard anything about that. Regardless, I'd bet we'll hear about all of this at E3," the insider wrote.

Nintendo announced "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2" in June 2019. Since then, updates about the game have been scarce. Last February, the Japanese gaming giant said it would provide more information about the much-awaited sequel in the coming days.
