It’s been discovered that LG has sent out invites for a press event on Aug. 31 in Berlin, Germany. It’s now believed that the LG V30 smartphone, the successor to last year’s V20, will finally be revealed at the upcoming event.

The event is believed to be a press conference just before IFA Berlin 2017, which actually kicks off on Sept. 1 and ends on Sept. 6. Although LG didn’t specifically mention the LG V30 launch on the invite, the company did heavily hint at it in a not-so-subtle way.

First off, LG’s invite resembles the common appearance of a smartphone. That said, the invite also suggests that the device will have little to no bezels. Just by judging on LG’s invite alone, the LG V30 might just resemble the LG G6.

On the invite itself, there’s a silhouette of a “V,” which is obviously referencing the V series of phones. Lastly, the resolution of the image is 2,880 x 1,440, as pointed out by Android Authority. If that sounds familiar, it’s because that is also the same resolution of the LG G6. This might suggest that the LG V30 will also have the taller 18:9 or 2:1 aspect ratio.

There’s been a lot of rumors circulating about the LG V30. One of the most popular ones is that LG will be ditching the signature V series secondary display. The company will now focus on simply improving and refining the bezel-less design that it started with the LG G6.

The LG V30 might also possibly adopt a curved edge-to-edge OLED display, as pointed out by CNET. This kind of design would be similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

Earlier this week, Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) and MySmartPrice collaborated on making high-resolution renders of what the LG V30 could look like. The CAD renders were made based on measurements that case makers received directly from LG. The renders also seem to show that the secondary display won’t be part of the V30.

MySmartPrice says that the LG V30’s dimensions are roughly 151.4 x 75.1 x 7.4mm, while the display itself is said to be roughly 6 inches across. The site also says that they could be off by a few millimeters. Dual cameras are set to return, along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. There’s a USB Type-C port which sits right beside the speaker grille, while the 3.5mm headphone jack is located on the top edge of the device.

Previous leaks suggest that the LG V30 will arrive with a Snapdragon 835 processor along with 6GB of RAM. Possible storage options are 32GB and 64GB, while a 128GB version also seems likely. The LG V30 is also believed to be IP68 water and dust resistant and may have wireless charging support.

Launching the LG V30 at IFA Berlin 2017 would give the device a head start against Apple’s iPhone 8. However, it would now have to compete directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8, which is now believed to have a launch date of Aug. 23.
