KEY POINTS

  • PlayStation Plus is Sony's premium online subscription service
  • It allows gamers to access multiplayer components of their favorite games
  • It is regularly priced at $9.99 per month

Gamers can now get a one-month PlayStation Plus subscription for just a dollar if they are not yet subscribed to Sony's premium membership service. The offer is available for a limited time only and is about to end very soon.

Sony is currently offering the best PlayStation subscription deal returning and new subscribers have ever seen, and it's up for grabs until 11:59 p.m. PDT or 2: 59 p.m. EDT Sunday.

One of the main advantages of signing up for a PlayStation Plus subscription is having access to online multiplayer. For instance, gamers can still play Arkane Studios' "Deathloop" on their PS5 without subscribing to the service. However, those who want to showcase their game prowess against other players via PVP invasions will need an active PS Plus membership.

Apart from this, PlayStation Plus subscribers also get access to the growing list of free games available via the service. This month, PS Plus offers "Overcooked: All You Can Eat," "Predator: Hunting Grounds" and "Hitman 2" as free games. Those who will avail of the $1 subscription can get access to the list of free PS Plus games for next month starting Oct. 4.

Typically, a month of subscription to Sony's premium membership service costs $9.99, which means gamers can get huge savings with this $1-offer. It is worth noting, however, that after the first month, the subscription will automatically be renewed at full price.

"Your 1-month membership will renew automatically and $9.99 + applicable tax will be deducted from your wallet every 1 month until you cancel. If your wallet has insufficient funds, your account's default payment method will be charged the remainder. Price may change," Sony noted on its page.

"The games included in the subscription, the online features of each game, as well as the other features and benefits of the PlayStation Plus subscription, are subject to change," the company said further.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has not said if this promotional deal is also available in other regions. At the moment, it appears it's only for returning and new members from the United States.

Outside the promo period, Sony offers a 50% discount to those who "choose to pay annually compared to paying monthly and 40% compared to the three-month membership plan." This means PS Plus subscribers can choose from the following payment schemes: $9.99 monthly, $24.99 for three months or $54.00 for 12 months.
