The term 5G has become very confusing over the past months because significant carriers are offering it in three different 5G variants, which are low-band, mid-band, and high-band frequencies. In this article, we share the list of areas in the US with 5G access from major US carriers. We also list some of the smartphones already available, as well as those unannounced with 5G support.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile launched its 5G service with the rollout of Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus 5G and the OnePlus 7T 5G McLaren. So far, cities with T-Mobile 5G service include New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Cleveland, and Atlanta. The company is planning to roll out the 600 MHz 5G service this Fall.

Sprint

Sprint 5G coverage is not as widespread as that of Verizon and AT&T. Its 5G service is available in areas where T-Mobile offers 5G. Additionally, its 5G cellular network service is available in Kansas City, Houston, Phoenix, Washington DC, and Chicago. The company does charge an extra fee for 5G service, but subscribers must sign up to its Unlimited Premium plan, which costs $85 for one line.

Verizon

Verizon launched the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G that triggered the company to offer the network connectivity to Minneapolis and Chicago. Since then, Verizon has released the service to select parts of Minnesota, St. Paul, Providence, and Rhode Island. Verizon also made the 5G service available to Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Hoboken, New Jersey, and Memphis. It also offers 5G cellular network service in areas where T-Mobile and Sprint's 5G service is available, except in Kansas.

Other areas where Verizon offers 5G service include Omaha, Boise, Panama City, Sioux Falls, Des Moines, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Greensboro, North Carolina. Salt Lake City, Utah, Spokane, Washington, Miami, Florida, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Columbus, and Hampton Roads, Virginia, all now have Verizon 5G service.

AT&T

Like Sprint, AT&T does not charge extra for its 5G service. However, subscribers must sign up to its Unlimited Elite or Unlimited Extra plan to avail it. Initially, AT&T offered its 5G service to select customers and businesses only.

But, now, it is starting to roll out to the general public. AT&T’s 5G service is now available in New York City, Baltimore, Birmingham, Bridgeport, Connecticut, Buffalo, Detroit, Las Vegas, and Louisville. Areas including Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Providence, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, and Washington DC all now have AT&T 5G service.

Smartphones With 5G support

There are smartphones available in the market right now that come with 5G support. It includes Samsung Galaxy Note 10 5G, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G, and Samsung Galaxy A90 5G. LG V50 ThinQ, Moto Z4 (with 5G Moto Mod), Moto Z3 (with 5G Moto Mod), Moto Z2 Force, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G are also available to consumers who want to avail of 5G service. Other smartphones with 5G support include Huawei Mate X, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, Oppo Reno 5G, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G, Axon 10 Pro 5G, and Nubia X 5G.
