Man Arrested For Allegedly Spreading Buttered Toast On Neighbor's SUV: Christopher Brannon Charged With 'Malicious Damage To Property'
A South Carolina man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly smearing buttered toast on a neighbor’s SUV.
Christopher Brannon, 34, of Union, S.C., was arrested by Union County sheriff’s deputies and charged with malicious damage to property in the bizarre incident, the Orangeburg Times and Democrat reported Tuesday.
The neighbor reportedly saw Brannon wiping something on the back the windshield of her SUV, the paper reported. When she went to get a closer look, she discovered “a greasy film on the glass and a piece of buttered toast on the ground nearby.”
The incident caused an estimated $1 in damage. It was unclear why Brannon allegedly smeared buttered toast on the SUV; an incident report did not mention a motive for the crime, the Times and Democrat noted.
Brannon was released from jail on his own recognizance after being arrested.
Readers of the Times and Democrat’s story left snarky comments for Brannon.
“Shouldn't they have charged him with Assault and Buttery?” quipped user doesofcommonsense.
“WOW! He was as reckless with butter as Paula Deen used to be!” added GatorGirl.
