Canna-Beer – Dad & Dudes Breweria’s marijuana-infused beer – may soon be available in more than just Colorado. The adult beverage brand, which officially rolled out the first line of Drew's Brews packaged cannabis-infused beers back in 2015, recently announced plans to sell their General Washington’s Secret Stash in stores across the United States.

Dad & Dudes co-owner Mason Hembree told Colorado’s 9 News on Thursday that he finally managed to secure federal approval of the beer, which contains cannabis sativa extracts but won’t actually give consumers the high-effects that are normally associated with marijuana. Hembree told reporters that his latest distribution efforts will only propel the marijuana reforms taking place all over the country.

“You know when we first released everybody believed, oh, a Colorado brewery doing that make sense. But they didn't think we could sell it outside Colorado," he said. "The coolest part is the fact that we can bring the debate about cannabis and beer to the entire country."

General Washington’s Secret Stash is classified as an industrial hemp, meaning it contains no THC – the compound responsible for psychoactive feelings caused when smoking or partaking any form of marijuana. Dad and Dudes’ brand takes extractions from cannabis sativa stalks and stems, which are known for their non-psychoactive cannabinoids, and mixes the compound into the brew. Cannabis Sativa also is in the same genus – Cannabaceae – as Humulus Lupulus, or hops.

Should Hembree get the $50,000 needed to fund the project, the beer and weed enthusiast plans to have General Washington’s Secret Stash IPAs canned by November and on shelves in all 50 states by January. The company has facilitated a Kickstarter donation page to help secure funding for the mass production of cannabis-infused beer.

General Washington’s Secret Stash is a part of Dad and Dudes Breweria’s Canna-Beer Series, which features Sativa IPA and Indica Double IPA.
