Matt Lauer and Annette Roque stepped out together for the first time in months, following rumors their marriage would end in divorce. The couple, whose relationship has reportedly been in shambles since the anchor was fired from NBC on Nov. 17, was spotted out together amid reports they have “amicably” reached a divorce settlement.

Lauer, who first married Roque in 1998, was dismissed from the “Today” show after the network received a sexual harassment complaint from an employee accusing the journalist of inappropriate behavior.

Since his termination, Lauer has not been frequently photographed with Roque. However, that all changed on Sunday when the Daily Mail published pictures of the estranged couple as they attended the Hampton Classic in New York.

In the photos, the two appeared to be friendly with one another as they greeted friends and took turns walking their dog around the event. Lauer and Roque kept a low profile during the outdoor horse show, both wearing hats and sunglasses to cover their faces.

The outing comes amid reports Lauer has agreed to pay Roque $20 million in a divorce settlement. Sources previously told Entertainment Tonight the couple hoped to dissolve their marriage in a civilized manner so the process wouldn’t affect their three children, Jack, 17, Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11.

“While they had issues and argued over properties and a final settlement, they have decided they can both put the children first and have come up with a plan,” the insider explained.

“They both wanted to settle their divorce amicably for their children’s sake but it hasn’t been easy. They’ve relied on their attorneys throughout the process and now after a very long year, Matt has agreed to pay Annette about $20 million in the divorce,” the source shared.

Their plan appears to have worked out successfully, seeing as those close to the stars believe the divorce agreement has changed their relationship for the better. “For both Matt and Annette, there is a noticeable difference in their attitude toward this entire process. They seem happier and their family and friends are thrilled to see they are both moving forward.”

Lauer and Roque have yet to make an official announcement about the state of their marriage.
