Samsung has just unveiled a powerful Pro Plus microSD card with a whopping 128 GB storage space.

Samsung has already made a name for itself in the smartphones and tablets arena across the globe. The tech giant also makes Exynos chipset, which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon competitor.

Using the advanced MLC NAND flash solution, the new Samsung Pro Plus microSD card can apparently deliver highest speed and storage capacity. This memory card also sets a new standard for advanced multimedia memory solution. It can easily capture actions from cameras, smartphones, DSLRs with 4K recording capability and also from drones, according to Samsung.

In addition to the 32 GB and 64 GB variants launched earlier, the new 128 GB microSD card is reportedly capable of storing “heavy-loaded, high-resolution video, photography and multimedia contents for use in today’s mobile devices.” Samsung also acknowledged that there is a growing consumer base for 4K UHD video recording and playback, thanks to the latest high-end smartphones with brilliant camera modules on board.

The 128GB Samsung Pro Plus microSD card can reportedly handle read rates of 95 MB/s and has a write speed of 90 MB/s. To top it all off, this card is apparently protected from water (IEC 60529, IPX7), temperature, magnetic force and X-ray. Samsung is also tossing in a 10-year limited warranty. This device can withstand operating temperatures between -13 degree fahrenheit and 185 degree fahrenheit and non-operating temperatures in the ambit of -40 degree fahrenheit and 185 degree fahrenheit.

On the other hand, owners of Samsung Galaxy S6 series or Galaxy Note 5 may not be able to use this microSD card as the handsets do not feature an expandable slot. If reports are to be believed, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 will feature expandable memory option.

Speaking of price, the 128 GB Samsung Pro Plus microSD card will set the buyers back by a whopping $199.99, Phone Arena reported.
