  • Meghan Markle reportedly felt that the staff treated her second to Kate Middleton
  • The Duchess of Sussex allegedly had a row with Middleton's staff
  • The two duchesses reportedly argued if the bridesmaids should wear tights for the Sussexes' royal wedding

Meghan Markle was reportedly very sensitive about how the staff treated her as someone who was number two to her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

The Duchess of Sussex and Duchess of Cambridge were often pitted against each other. The comparison started when Prince Harry’s romance with Markle was publicized.

It was easy for many to compare the two royals because they are both fashionable, commoners, and about the same age. However, according to royal author Tom Quinn in his new book “Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir From Queen Mary To Meghan Markle,” Prince Harry’s wife had a row with the palace staff because she was not “getting the sort of attention she deserved.”

The duchess allegedly argued with the staff for their treatment toward her because she felt only second to the future queen, Middleton.

“It was almost as if in that one encounter, it encapsulated for Meghan the problem that she had, that she's a Princess and she's number two,” Quinn told Daily Star Online.

“She's very sensitive about not being treated with the same respect that she feels Kate is, so can react badly and doesn't take it lying down.”

Quinn shared that he spoke with someone who was left uncomfortable after Markle’s row with Middleton’s staff. Markle allegedly asked one of the staff to do something for her but was told, “I'm really sorry I can't do that because I work for Kate.”

The response reportedly made Markle feel as if “she had been put in her place.” As a princess, the former actress had “assumed that when you ask staff to do something, they are going to do it.”

The two duchesses also had an alleged feud in the run-up to Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding. They reportedly couldn’t agree with the bridesmaids’ attire. Middleton wanted them to wear tights because that’s the protocol. However, the bride disagreed.

“First off, it was Meghan’s big day, not Kate’s and secondly Meghan was not about to make her god-kids, let alone the other little girls wear tights, it was too hot and sticky and there was just no need for it,” an insider told Daily Mail.

“Meghan said it really wasn’t an issue until Kate made it an issue.”

At present, Prince Harry and Markle are in the U.S. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are already on speaking terms following the alleged fued between them.
