Meghan Markle and Prince Harry declined an offer from Queen Elizabeth II, but they ended up demanding for it.

A few weeks back, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world when they announced that they were stepping back from their royal roles. Prince Harry and Markle decided to work to be financially independent.

However, it turned out that before they got married, the Queen already offered them to live their lives without royal titles. The Sussexes reportedly snubbed it because they wanted to serve alongside the other members of the Firm.

A source told The Sun that Her Majesty made the offer to Markle to “give her freedom to continue her acting career.” Also, the monarch believed that it would give Markle a smooth transition but Markle “wanted to become a working member of the royal family.”

“The offer would have allowed her to carry on her career, but she was happy to stop acting to become a working member of the royal family,” the source said.

Unfortunately, just slightly over two years since she became an active member of the royal family, the duchess decided to step down. Markle also dragged Prince Harry along with her decision to quit her role as a senior member of the royal family.

It turned out that Prince Harry and Markle ended up demanding for the deal that the Queen once offered and they used to snub. However, in Prince Harry’s speech, he implied that they were pressured to quit their royal jobs.

According to insiders, Queen Elizabeth II was furious and disappointed, but she remains supportive of the Sussexes. In her statement, the monarch said that she wanted Prince Harry and Markle to stay, but they decided to allow them to do what they wanted.

A source close to the duchess also revealed that she dropped her role in “Suits” and sacrificed her career for her commitment to helping charities. Another source said that they were not expecting Markle to stay on set or stay in the series longer when her relationship with Prince Harry got serious.

“Meghan knows she can't really act at the same time as being a princess and is happy to make this career sacrifice,” a source said. “She really enjoys her charity work with Unicef and will broaden out her charity commitments when she becomes a full-time royal.”
