KEY POINTS

  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's brand is similar to the Obamas but not the Kardashians
  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expected to make millions of dollars from their Sussex brand
  • Kate Middleton is the biggest loser following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's exit

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Sussex Royal brand is similar to the Obamas but not close to the Kardashians.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced a few weeks back that they were stepping back from their royal roles and they would work to be financially independent. Many are convinced that with Prince Harry and Markle’s star quality and influence, they could earn more than the royal family earns.

Jeetendr Sehdev, Esquire’s Influencer of the Year, shared his thoughts on the Sussex brand. For him, Prince Harry and Markle’s influence is comparable to the Obamas but definitely not as strong as the Kardashians.

“I see the Sussex Royal brand being more like the Obamas, not the Kardashians,” Sehdev wrote for Forbes.

“I think Sussex Royal is more like the multi-million dollar Obamas, not the billion-dollar Kardashians.”

Among the reasons Sehdev cited to come up with the observation is the age of the royal family fans. While the Sussex Royal brand has some qualities that appeal to the younger core consumers, those who have great interest in the couple are over 65 years old. Thus, he doubts that the royal brand will ever compete to the likes of the Kardashians or Selena Gomez.

Another reason is Prince Harry’s racist remarks and anit-Semitic behavior. Sehdev is convinced that it will turn off many fans.

“I have no doubt, Harry's racist behavior will haunt him with today's younger generation. Let’s not forget that nearly half of Generation-Z are minorities,” Sehdev wrote.

He added that Prince Harry and Markle’s brand doesn’t have the same type of appeal amongst teens. He also predicted that “the brand just won’t be ingrained in the culture in the same way.”

According to Express, Prince Harry and Markle is likely to earn $500 million and more annually with their brand. There is no doubt that they will make a multi-million revenue because they have a global appeal.

In related news, Middleton is reportedly the biggest loser following Prince Harry and Markle’s departure. The Duchess of Cambridge will always be compared to Markle who will eventually eclipse her.
