Meghan Markle upstaged Kate Middleton several times, but the latter knew how to get her revenge.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex are often pitted against each other. Markle already announced she and Prince Harry would be stepping back from their royal roles but not before she upstaged the future queen several times. However, the future knew how to get back with a sweet revenge, The Sun reported.

Markle made the announcement about quitting her royal role a day before Middleton’s birthday. Many felt that she stole the limelight from Prince William’s wife by doing so. Royal author Phil Dampier said that the timing of the announcement ruined the duchess’ special day.

Dampier said that it was a sign that the fab four have drifted apart. He added that it was sad because the two royal brothers and their wives had the potential to be a positive force together. Middleton got her revenge by posting a new photo of her via Kensington Palace.

Prince Harry and Markle didn’t share a photo of the duchess to celebrate the special occasion but commented on Kensington Palace’s post with “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Cambridge today!” However, thousands of royal fans already accused them of stealing Middleton’s thunder.

Markle and Prince Harry also stole Prince William and Middleton’s thunder during their trip to Pakistan when they released clips of their emotional documentary with ITV. In the intervew, a teary-eyed Markle said she was vulnerable as she shared her struggles as first-time mom and a full-time working royal who was constantly mocked by the press.

Evening Standard’s Robert Jobson said that the Sussexes’ decision to release a teaser of their emotional interview while the Cambridges were on their four-day Pakistan tour “baffled and infuriated” the palace aides.

“This move has certainly overshadowed the Pakistan visit and what has been achieved here during the last few days, as well as a lot of work by an awful lot of dedicated people here on the ground as well as back home for months,” an insider said.

Middleton continued to endear the public with her choice of outfits during the trip. Following their Pakistan tour, it was reported that Middleton only spent $16,000 on her outfits which royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams described as “exquisitely appropriate for each occasion” with a special homage to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.
