Before Meghan Markle retired from being an actress in 2017, she starred in the Hallmark Channel movie, “Dater’s Handbook, with Kristoffer Polaha in 2016. It was her final movie before quitting the industry and marrying Prince Harry, and Polaha had nothing but great things to say about her while speaking with International Business Times.

Not only did he share how “awesome” she was and how much of “a blast” they had, but the actor also revealed that she got all “To All the Boys I've Loved Before” on him and wrote him some nice letters after they finished filming their Hallmark movie.

“I have these cool little letters; She wrote me a couple notes, like a wrap gift note,” Polaha said. “And then she dropped some presents off for my wife and my kids right at Christmastime. She was a friend. [I] couldn’t be happier for her.”

The actor also told IBT how he never expected their Hallmark movie to blow up and become so popular over the last few years since the Duchess of Sussex first began her relationship with Prince Harry.

“What I didn’t know was that I was gonna star — co-star— with Meghan Markle, who’s like a month after we finished working together was gonna meet Prince Harry,” Polaha said. “And when that happened, ‘Dater’s Handbook,’ —like the whole world — it started airing in all the Commonwealth areas. Hallmark played it over and over again as it was ramping up for the wedding.

“So, a lot of people ended up seeing ‘Dater’s Handbook,’ which all tides rise — all ships rise with the tide — so it’s like, it became very good for me because it, kind of all a sudden, was like I was part of something that was really kind of — had a little touch to it. So, it went from being something that I thought was gonna be like a one-time deal to something that was very charmed.”

You can next see Polaha in his sixth Hallmark movie, “Mystery 101,” on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. EST.
