Melania Trump represents both the "American dream" and "what is wrong in the country," according to a former senior aide to the first lady.

In her piece for The Daily Beast, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who used to be part of the Trumps' inner circle, wrote that the first lady is a "double-edged sword" that represents contrasting aspects of the country.

"As an immigrant, she represents the American dream come true. On the flip side, Melania symbolizes what is wrong in America," Wolkoff wrote in the lengthy op-ed.

Melania's former friend acknowledged that millions of people idolize and believe in the first lady. However, Wolkoff suggested Melania had not earned this, pointing out that the FLOTUS had no major accomplishments during her husband President Donald Trump's four years in the White House.

"Name one thing that she actually accomplished. Try. People warned me not to work for them. And now, I can tell you, having seen it firsthand, that no one will escape the destruction created by these people," she wrote.

Wolkoff went on to claim that Melania has always been aware of the actions and motives of those around her despite staying silent—something that is, according to the former aide, more common than people think.

"Melania represents what is wrong in America. She got a pass in life because in America, white, 'beautiful' women who are silent always have gotten a pass. Melania has made 'beautifully' designed parties, events, rooms, and comes across to children as 'sweet and caring,'" she wrote.

"All these ideas go back to the ’50s where women were silent and pretty, racism was rampant, immigrants did the dirty work, and men made fortunes in dirty ways," she continued. "Many wives of malignant American men have done the same. At their core they are Machiavellian. Win at all costs. And make it look pretty. Melania knows exactly what is going on. Melania has always had her own agenda, BE BEST says it all. Be Best no matter what the cost."

Wolkoff claimed in her piece that Melania was just like Trump and that she was his extension, asserting that the first lady was "complicit in the destruction of America."

Wolkoff also wrote that Melania kept her chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, because the latter spread false rumors about others. While Grisham announced her resignation after the Capitol riot last week, Wolkoff speculated that she was "probably fired and used this opportunity to pretend she had a moral line in the sand."

Wolkoff became friends with Melania nearly 20 years ago and was present during her wedding to Trump and her baby shower, The New York Times reported. She served in the East Wing of the White House after Trump's 2017 inauguration, which she helped organize, before leaving about a year later.
