  • Melania Trump encouraged parents to check on their kids' social media use
  • The FLOTUS talked about the importance of social media safety
  • The first lady faced backlash for her tweet

Melania Trump was viciously attacked on Twitter after she posted about the importance of social media safety.

“While most children are at home during this challenging time, they tend to be on social media throughout the day. Parents, please be sure to check on them regularly to be sure they’re practicing online safety,” the FLOTUS tweeted.

However, the first lady’s tweet did not sit well with a lot of people. Her critics called her post ironic especially since she’s married to Donald Trump. The POTUS has been dubbed as one of the biggest bullies and trolls online, especially on Twitter.

“Translation: So keep them away from your husband’s disgusting Twitter feed…” Twitter user @AndyOstroy said.

“Holy cow, my irony detector just exploded,” Twitter user @itsJeffTiedrich said.

“Yes, I am checking very diligently that they do not go anywhere near the most toxic accounts on social media. I talk to them constantly about how bullying is wrong and name-calling is bad. I want my kids to be safe. So, I don’t let them see your husband’s nasty bullying tweets,” Twitter user @JoJoFromJerz said.

“Right. So please check on your two boys and take away their access. One of them is out of Trumping control,” Twitter user @KevinlyFather said.

“Correction: Parents, please be sure to check on your children regularly to be sure they don’t go on Trump’s Twitter feed,” Twitter user @ChildNwatu said.

“Yes, check on your child, Melania. He’s in the Oval Office tweeting hatred for mankind. He may just win the biggest bully of the year,” Twitter user @HannaPapillon said.

Even though the FLOTUS is unable to prevent the POTUS from posting mean tweets online, the first lady did say that she doesn’t always agree with her husband.

“Well, I don’t always agree with what he thinks, and I tell him that. I give him my honest opinion and honest advice. Sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn’t,” she said.
