Singer Michael Bublé shared heartbreaking news with his fans in a Facebook statement Friday: His 3-year-old son, Noah, has cancer.

Bublé, 41, wrote the post on his wife Luisana Lopilato’s account.

“We are devastated by the recent cancer diagnosis of our eldest son, Noah, who is currently in treatment in the United States,” the statement read, which had been translated from Spanish. “We've always talked a lot about the importance of the family and the love we have for our children.”

“Luisana and I are going to spend all our time and attention to help Noah to get better, by suspending our professional activities for now,” the Canadian songwriter said. “During this difficult time, we ask that you pray for him and please respect our privacy.”

Bublé added: “We have a long road ahead of us and we hope that with the support of our family, friends, fans around the world and our faith in God, we can win this battle.”

Within an hour, the post garnered nearly 100,000 reactions from fans. It was shared more than 10,000 times and generated thousands of comments from concerned fans.

Lopilato, 29, is a native Spanish speaker and an actress and model from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Before Noah’s shocking diagnosis, she was trying to work her way into Hollywood. Buble and Lopilato married in March 2011, and the family welcomed their second son, Elias, in January.

Buble and Lopilato traveled to the U.S. a few days ago after they suspected Noah was suffering from Mumps, according to Argentinian publication La Nacion. On Wednesday, doctors determined it was cancer, though there are no reports of what type.

Noah’s family, both from the Bublé side and the Lopilato side, are flying to be by his side, La Nacion added. His parents have cleared their work schedules amid Noah’s diagnosis.

The cancer shock comes a year after Noah accidentally poured scolding water on himself. Lopilato was reportedly unsure how the mishap occurred, the Mirror said.
