‘The Middle’ Season 9: ‘RHOBH’ Star Lisa Rinna Appears In Episode 3
“The Middle” has tapped Lisa Rinna to guest star in Season 9, episode 3 of the hit ABC series.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star will play the role of Tammy Brooks, the mom of Axl’s (Charlie McDermott) girlfriend, Lexie (Daniela Bobadilla), and Sue’s (Eden Sher) roommate. Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike (Neil Flynn) will meet Tammy and her husband for the first time at the parents’ weekend in East Indy.
Earlier this month, the same publication confirmed that “The Middle” will be saying goodbye to their fans after its ninth season. Executive producer Eileen Heisler told Entertainment Weekly that the cast of “The Middle” knew about the show’s fate as early as last year. “We sat down with the cast at the end of last year. It was important to have a year to say goodbye. We want to be able to tell all the stories,” she said.
Co-executive producer DeAnn Heline also acknowledged the fact that some people don’t know about “The Middle” unlike “Modern Family,” which is very popular among viewers.
“Some know about us, some don’t. We are at heart a Midwestern show. If we can be underappreciated for nine years and be on the air, we’re lucky,” she said.
Last week, ABC dropped an emotional Season 9 teaser that featured a series of flashbacks centered on the members of the Heck family. Throughout the years, fans of the series have seen Axl grow up and mature. They have also witnessed Sue’s ability to make friends and actually belong. Brick (Atticus Shaffer) has also grown up to become a witty and loving sibling and son. Through it all, Frankie and Mike have stood by their children and have loved them with all of their hearts.
When asked what Season 9 will be like, Heisler said that fans can expect that the final episodes will be true to the show. “We started having an idea a couple of years ago and honed it more in the last year. It’s an end that fans will like,” she added.
“The Middle” Season 9 will premiere on ABC on Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. EDT.
