“Modern Family” fans may have a reason to rejoice because it has just been hinted that a Season 9 renewal of the ABC series is possible.

TV Line writer Michael Ausiello was recently asked whether or not Adam Devine, who plays the role of Andy, will return to the hit ABC series in Season 8. Ausiello said that he knows for sure Andy will be back, but not this season. As of late, ABC has not made an official announcement regarding the renewal for Season 9, but the writer’s response suggests that there’s a huge possibility of it being greenlighted.

Last month, Deadline reported that the show’s finale episode for Season 8 was written in such a way that it will only serve as a season ender and not a series ender. There was also no alternate ending filmed because the creators of the series are hopeful that Season 9 will soon receive the green light. However, a lot of work still needs to be done because several cast members’ contracts are up for renewal after the current season.

But before the renewal or cancellation of “Modern Family,” the series will first release Season 8, episode 20. “All Things Being Equal” will focus on the very timely subject of gender equality and the women’s movement. Gloria (Sofia Vergara), Claire (Julie Bowen), Haley (Sarah Hyland), Alex (Ariel Winter), Manny (Rico Rodriguez) and Luke (Nolan Gould) will all be showing support, but in very different ways.

Elsewhere, Jay (Ed O’Neill) and Phil (Ty Burrell) will be at odds with each other when they couldn’t agree on how their parking lot attendant should do her job. Actress Niecy Nash will be guest starring as the parking lot attendant, Joan. Additionally, Cam (Eric Stonestreet) will start to feel jealous of Pam’s (Dana Powell) relationship with Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).

“Modern Family” Season 8, episode 20 will air on May 3 at 8:30 p.m. EST.
