Antilia, named after the mythical island in the Atlantic, is a twenty-seven floor personal home of Mukesh Ambani. The Rs 4000 crore and almost 173 meters tall house is situated in South Mumbai. Known as the "Taj Mahal of 21st century India,” the house is looked after by 600 full-time staff making it the most expensive home in the world.
Antilia, whose another name is The Towers in the Heart of Mumbai, has about 400, 000 square feet of floor space, Artistic Residential and Guest accommodation, Maintenance levels, a Ball-room (with wall to wall crystal chandeliers), Private theatre Pool , Gyms, 7 stories of Parking levels, a Garden level, a Swimming pool, and Ice room with snow flurries. It even includes the Lobby, the Dining Room, Exotic Bathrooms, the Study, Jacuzzi, Dance & Yoga Halls and Terrace with Personal Helipad.
Ever since the construction started, the Mukesh Ambani house has been shrouded with various controversies.
In 2002, Mukesh purchased the property. And, in 2007 the Maharashtra government announced the property illegal. After mitigating that issue, in June 2011, the Union government asked the Maharashtra government to consider referring the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The Indian Navy too has shown its objection in regards to the three helipads, while the Environment Ministry said the helipads violate local noise laws.
Astonishingly, Mukesh and his family have still not moved in their palatial house and the reason could be the house’s non-conformity to the ancient Indian architectural doctrine known as Vastu Shastra.
