Nearly two dozen children were injured after multiple school buses collided in Burlington County, New Jersey on Monday. The collision involving five buses occurred at Tuckerton Road and Lenape Trail in Medford Lakes around 4.30 p.m. EDT.

Police said the buses were dropping off children who attended the JCC Medford Day Camp and the injured include 21 children, two drivers and one staff member. The injured were rushed to Virtua Voorhees and Virtua Mount Holly hospitals with minor injuries. The remaining 67 campers and 10 staff members were taken back to the camp on additional buses.

Medford Township Police Chief Richard Meder said, "We were quickly able to do some triage, we were able to determine a total of 24 individuals needed to be transported to the hospital for minor injuries," ABC 6 reported.

Officials said, “The reunification of campers and their families will take place at the JCC Camps at Medford. Due to Tuckerton Road being closed at this time, parents are advised to access Camp via Stokes Road.”

The Katz JCC, which operates the camp, expressed gratitude to law enforcement and emergency medical services for reaching the accident scene within minutes. A police team from Medford Lakes and EMS squads from Moorestown, Evesham, Mount Laurel and Tabernacle also reached the scene for investigation.

The accident is under investigation.

Police said the buses were operated by Safety Bus Company based in Pennsauken, New Jersey, local daily Courier Post reported. Videos from the scene show damaged buses and aerial view shows four buses stopped in a row, while another parked on the other side of the street.
