  • DeGeneres has been the center of controversy for her alleged "mean" behavior and mistreatment of staff

Ellen DeGeneres may be getting hate and criticism, but she has found a supportive friend in polo star Nacho Figueras, who recently showed some love to the host and called on other big names to stand by her during this time.

The 43-year-old Argentine polo player took to Instagram to express his utmost support for his friend, sharing a photo of them and praising DeGeneres for being “a great human being.” Figueras, who is a good friend of Prince Harry's as well, added that he was waiting for someone with “more authority” to speak up about the 62-year-old host.

“I have been very lucky to be on that show many times and I can tell you that it is a very well run machine, everyone was super nice, not just to me but to each other and anyone involved,” Figueras wrote.

The athlete shared that he has seen DeGeneres being nice not just to the staffers of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” but also to many others, including “the guy serving the coffee, the person in the elevator, the security guy and the owner of the venue.”

Figueras went on to say that everyone loves DeGeneres because she “makes the world a better place for millions of people everyday.” He added that people shouldn’t attack her just because “something may not have been perfect.”

The sportsman challenged people close to DeGeneres and those who consider her a friend to openly show their support for her, before explaining that he is ready for any criticism that may arise from his defense of his great pal.

“We are all so scared to say what we really think and it seems that we are only relevant if we say whatever the trending social media topic is,” he added, before tagging Jennifer Aniston, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez.

Figueras is hardly the first to come to DeGeneres’ defense. Scooter Braun also had nothing but nice things to say about the comedian, describing her as a “kind, thoughtful, courageous human being.”

DeGeneres’ wife, Portia de Rossi, broke her silence and expressed her support for the host through Instagram. The Australian-American actress shared a graphic with the words, “I Stand with Ellen.”

DeGeneres' show has been receiving backlash after a current and 10 former employees came out with their harrowing experiences while working on the set. They claimed that “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” had a “toxic” workplace.
