Naya Rivera made a controversial comment about showering when she appeared as a guest host on “The View” Tuesday. When she said that she does not shower every day, and that it’s “such a white people thing,” Twitter users remarked that ex-fiancé Big Sean essentially dodged a bullet by ending their relationship in April.

Soon after her split with Big Sean, Rivera hooked up with actor Ryan Dorsey, who is white. “I have to say I have a theory about showering, [which] is that I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics,” Rivera said on the show, according to Us Weekly. “I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing.”

When Rosie O’Donnell said she wanted to “dispute that” and pointed out that a black woman in the audience had gasped at her proclamation, Rivera tried to backtrack. The "Glee" actress, 28, mentioned that her mother is half-black and half-Puerto Rican and that her mom “showers every day,” but then she returned to her original statement about daily hygiene.

“But I can say that I am now married to a white man and he showers a lot. Like, a lot -- two, three times a day. I'm like, 'What are you doing?'” She claimed dermatologists said people are not supposed to shower every day, which is something Buzzfeed reported Monday, but the apparent damage had already been done.

Thousands of Twitter users slammed the star and many said they understood why Big Sean didn’t want to be with her anymore. The rapper, whose real name is Sean Michael Anderson, is now with tiny pop diva Ariana Grande. It’s a relationship change that Twitter users agreed with after Rivera’s shower comment. Despite the backlash, Rivera doesn't seem phased.
