KEY POINTS

  • The Golden State Warriors are looking to improve their roster after a disappointing season
  • One possible player the Warriors can benefit from is Houston Rockets' forward Robert Covington
  • Covington has been a reliable defender who can shoot from beyond the three-point line

The Golden State Warriors have fallen from a dominant dynasty to the bottom of the NBA. While the team has struggled this year, the Bay Area squad will still benefit from signing reliable players such as Houston Rocket’s Robert Covington.

It has been a unique year for the Warriors given the series of injuries and roster changes the franchise went through. The current team features a completely new look as veteran stars such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston were replaced with rookies and new players. The Splash Brothers weren’t around due to injuries and Kevin Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets.

With everything that has happened to the Warriors, they still remain as a team to watch as they’re looking to boost their lineup through the draft and other key signings.

Deepening the Warriors’ roster remains to be a challenge for the front office despite the strides they’ve made this year. The team was able to secure the services of former number one pick Andrew Wiggins as a scoring forward. But Wiggins would need the support of a defensive icon off the bench to further support the team.

Per Blue Man Hoop, one of these players they can sign is Covington who can provide the hustle and energy from a small forward.

It has been another exciting year for the Rockets as they’ve made headlines with their unique style of play. The unconventional small-ball lineup has propelled the likes of Covington to a bigger spotlight with his role as a versatile defender and spot-up three-point shooter. Those are the assets any team would benefit from especially how the pace of the game has drastically gotten faster.

The six-foot-seven forward is currently averaging 12.8 points a game to go along with 6.4 rebounds a night. While his offensive numbers aren’t necessarily near All-Star levels, he has always found different ways to contribute on the floor.

With key players such as Eric Paschall developing as a rising star, the Warriors are ready to bounce back in the seasons to come. The possibility of adding someone like Covington may prove to be beneficial for Golden State and their quest to return back to their dominating form.
