KEY POINTS

  • An alleged "GTA 6" recently surfaced online
  • It shows an image of the rumored map of the upcoming title
  • Rockstar Games has not yet confirmed if "GTA 6" is in development

An alleged map of "GTA 6" or at least part of it surfaced online, offering "Grand Theft Auto" fans the first look at the content of the rumored title releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The unverified image of the alleged map of "GTA 6" has been making rounds on Reddit and ResetEra since earlier this week. The leak reignites rumors that the in-development Rockstar Games title will be set across Vice City and a new South America-inspired area. It looks like the alleged map came out of nowhere and the only reason fans are considering it is that it happens to align with another leak from a couple of years back.

The rumored "GTA 6" map or part of its map shows a large island that features a coastal city. At first glance, the map could be of any game. However, because, as mentioned earlier, it resembles the previously leaked map, fans think it has something to do with the heavily-rumored title.

Rockstar Games maintained its silence with anything related to "GTA 6." Despite this, fans continue to dig online and share whatever information they could get that they think could be related to the game. In August, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, updated the domains for "gtavicecityonline" and "gtavi.com."

The update happened after several weeks of rumors suggesting "GTA 6" would be set in Vice City. A few months ago, an 80's electro-synth artist shared in a now-deleted tweet that Rockstar Games contacted various artists to feature their work on the soundtrack of the heavily-rumored title. The artist claimed the gaming studio was looking for Synthwave artists for the game’s Vice City-inspired radio station.

In the absence of Rockstar Games’ confirmation, it is smarter to take these details with a pinch of salt. At the time of this publication, the only information Rockstar Games has confirmed is that a new "Grand Theft Auto" game is in early development. Essentially, this does not guarantee or confirm the said game is "GTA 6."
