  • New report claims alleged Nintendo Switch Pro feature that could challenge the PS5 and Xbox Series X

The next-generation hybrid console from Nintendo allegedly called the Switch Pro is not releasing until 2021, but a new report claimed that it could be sporting a new display technology at launch that could challenge the upcoming next-generation gaming consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The latest report came from Economic Daily News, which claimed that the new display technology, in the form of mini-LED display would be supplied by the Taiwanese manufacturer Innolux Corporation. The latest rumor surfaced following an earlier report released by Bloomberg revealing that the Japanese gaming giant asked developers to make their games 4K-ready.

The report also hinted that an improved hybrid gaming console is arriving in 2021 with Nintendo making preparations for the beefed-up console. For the uninitiated, the mini-LED display technology is designed to provide improved contrast ratios. Compared to the LCD panels, this new technology delivers deeper blacks with a lot of tiny lights that could make a brighter, more colorful and crisper screen.

The Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is rumored to be adopting this new display technology for its upcoming devices. The mini-LED display is a more cost-effective alternative than the expensive OLED or micro-LED.

Rumors about the Nintendo Switch Pro have been rife online. Earlier this year, reports were claiming that the Japanese gaming giant would start the production of the new Switch model. An analyst who previously predicted about the Switch Lite also said that the new Nintendo Switch Pro would feature 4K support.

Industry watchers and gamers speculate that the new Switch Pro would be a huge improvement over the original Switch. It is anticipated to feature faster GPU and processor and higher RAM to cope with the added space necessary for 4K games, the rumored hybrid gaming console could sport bigger storage.

Despite the leaks and rumors, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said at the financial briefing that the company jas no plans of releasing a new Switch model this year. As of this writing, the company has not made any announcements related to the Switch pro. In this case, it is wiser to take this information with a pinch of salt.
